Use downloadable files as template:
Here are the files you can use as samples. Download them, if you feel yourself quite experienced and ready to start.
Or read this article following sections below if you need a detailed explanation how Bulk Image Upload App works.
In case your images placed somewhere in the internet and you know URLs:
CSV file prepared to upload all product images by image URLs -
upload-images-by-URLs.sample.csv
If all of your images are on local computer:
CSV file prepared to upload all product images from image files on your local computer, organized in a ZIP archive -
upload-images-from-organized-ZIP.sample.csv
organized-ZIP.sample.zip
Create CSV from scratch: you need to know SKUs of your products
Bulk Image Upload App finds the existing product to upload images by SKU. So you need to know (or export) your product SKUs before.
Create a new empty Spreadsheet with the software you like. I'd recommend Google SpreadSheets, or LibreOffice Calc.
Add these columns: name, sku, image. The name column is not required, it's just for your convenience to figure out what Product is on row.
Place Product name and SKU to appropriate cells, e.g. Product A, A001, and go next to the image cell:
Next step: main, gallery, variation images
Bulk Image Upload App can upload any type of the images. What's the difference?
"Main" product image:
This is 1st image of the product, usually it displayed on the Store products grid, like Category page or Storefront.
First ocurrence on some product SKU in data rows will be threated by the App as "main" product image.
"Gallery images" for the product:
There are additional images, visible on the product page.
Every rows with the same product SKU will assumed as "gallery" images. So you just repeat same sku cell value and add as many gallery images as you need.
Please note: you need to repeat product sku cell value at every row related to product, but can leave product name cell empty (because it's optional).
"Product variation" image:
Image for specific product variations depending on options like Color or Material.
The App can recognize "variation" image by unique product variation SKU, so you need to use individual SKUs for your product variations.
Example: base product has SKU: A001, and SKU for "red" variation of this product is A001-R
Upload by image URL or from local ZIP archive
Upload by URL:
The App can upload images to the Product by image URLs, if you know where they are placed on the Internet.
Add full image URL to image cells, for example https://example.com/path-to-image/Product-A-main.jpg:
Upload from ZIP:
If you prefer to upload from a local computer folder, collect your images to a single ZIP archive.
Place image file names (full names, with file name extension) to the image cells, e.g. Product-A-main.jpg as figured above.
If you organized you ZIP archive with folders (like, by product SKU), you need to use "folder-name/image-name.ext" format, e.g. A001/Product-A-main.jpg
Save prepared data as CSV
Export prepared data as CSV file. Use utf-8 encoding, and comma-separated data delimiter, if the software you use asks you about export options.
Use prepared CSV to starting upload
Open the App control panel. You can find BulkImageUpload App menu link under Products section:
Click Select CSV button to pick prepared CSV file, or just drag it to drop area:
The App will parse CSV content and tell you brief results. In case you upload images by URL, it's ready to start uploading:
If some of the images don't look like URLs, the App will ask you to pick a prepared ZIP archive:
Selected ZIP will be parsed to ensure that all images you need are presented inside ZIP:
Upload progress and logs
Click the Start upload button. The App will start, reflecting progress and logging process details to the log area.
You can save the upload log as a text file to document results (or figure out later what's gone wrong):
